Perched on the steep terrain of Tortola, this contemporary residential building maximizes the potential of the site while adhering to the local area. The design is harmoniously integrated into the landscape to minimize excavation and backfall. A plant-lined driveway, following the natural contours, provides a scenic approach to the entrance. The building's orientation takes full advantage of the stunning ocean views, especially those of Guana Island. Large openings throughout the structure capture the island climate, ensuring that the interior spaces are light, bright, and well-ventilated.
The ground floor features an expansive Great Room and a well-equipped Kitchen. The interior spaces are designed to be light and airy, enhancing the feeling of indoor/outdoor living. The large covered outdoor verandah extends the living space, providing a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor areas. The verandah includes multiple interflowing spaces, catering to various activities and moods. Adjacent to the Kitchen, a designated morning coffee area invites residents to start their day with a tranquil breakfast or a good book, lounging in hanging chairs.
A 30' swimming pool, positioned alongside the morning coffee area, serves as a refreshing oasis. Its location maximizes the stunning ocean views and contributes to the overall outdoor entertainment space. The highlight of the outdoor entertainment space is the well-appointed bar and grill area. It functions as a central hub for dining, lounging, and cooking, providing a perfect setting for socializing with friends and family. Opposite the outdoor kitchen, a fire pit area is strategically placed for evening gatherings. It becomes a focal point for relaxation and connection under the starlit island sky.
Connected by a walkway, the detached guest cottage maintains the design coherence of the main house while offering privacy. The entrance, adorned with lush plants, opens into a private patio ideal for dining and relaxation. The cottage's orientation ensures both privacy and captivating views of Guana Island. This contemporary residential design in Tortola epitomizes island living, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces, capturing breathtaking views, and maintaining a strong connection with the natural surroundings. The careful integration of amenities and thoughtful orientation contribute to a home that is not just architecturally stunning but also attuned to the unique character of its location in the British Virgin Islands.
