Project 318

Contemporary villa overlooking Calivigny island in Egmont Grenada

Status: Conceptual Design
Project Area: 3, 500 sq. ft.
Project Type: Single Residential

Project 318, a contemporary two-story villa, stands gracefully on a steep slope along the South-Eastern coast of Grenada, seamlessly integrated into the landscape while minimizing the need for excavation and structural support columns. This design choice sets it apart from the traditional exterior features found in many Grenadian homes.

Situated to enjoy stunning views of Calivigny Island and Hog Island, one of the primary objectives of the design process was to maximize these panoramic views from as many rooms as possible. Additionally, the design prioritizes cross-ventilation and passive cooling techniques, enhancing the indoor-outdoor island living experience that is central to Grenadian lifestyle.

The villa comprises three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, featuring an open plan living, kitchen, and dining area that extends seamlessly to a large, covered patio and a small plunge pool. This layout not only enhances the visual connection with the breathtaking surroundings but also provides a space for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment.

Biophilic design, a key element of the project, plays a crucial role in softening the straight lines of the building and creating a relaxing atmosphere for the villa's residents. This design approach integrates natural elements, ensuring that the villa harmonizes with its surroundings and fosters a connection with nature.
